What to expect from your first massage
A first massage can feel intimidating: a stranger, a quiet room, very few clothes. Knowing what happens takes most of the worry away.
Before the session
Your therapist will ask about your health, any injuries and what you would like from the session. This is the moment to mention a sore shoulder, a pregnancy or areas you would rather they avoid.
During the session
You undress to your comfort level and stay covered by a towel; only the area being worked on is uncovered. Speak up if the pressure is too strong or not strong enough: a good therapist will thank you for it.
After the session
Drink some water, take it easy for the rest of the day and notice how you feel the next morning. Some stiffness after a deep tissue massage is normal and fades within a day.
