Yoga at home: how to start without hurting yourself
Videos are a great way to keep practising, but a few classes with a teacher first save you a lot of bad habits.
Get the basics right
A teacher will check your alignment in the postures you will repeat most: downward dog, warriors, forward folds.
Use props
A block, a strap and a cushion make most postures accessible on day one.
Listen to your body
Stretching should feel like effort, never like pain. If a posture hurts, come out of it.
